Matthew L. Castleberry, 35, of Elysburg, was caught after Montour police in Columbia County stopped a vehicle he was riding in. Officers confirmed his outstanding warrant, and he was taken into custody before being transported to Columbia County Prison, police said.
Castleberry was video arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Courtney M. Monson and remains held on $150,000 bail. His warrant has been canceled, according to police.
The charges stem from an August 5, 2023, incident at a Lancaster County birthday party. Investigators say Castleberry approached a 13-year-old, made inappropriate comments, followed them upstairs, and attempted to assault them. The victim's parents preserved their clothing from that night, and forensic testing later confirmed Castleberry’s DNA was present, police said.
Castleberry is facing multiple charges, including:
- Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse (two counts)
- Statutory Sexual Assault (two counts)
- Unlawful Contact With a Minor
- Sexual Assault
- Aggravated Indecent Assault (two counts)
- Indecent Assault (six counts)
- Corruption of Minors
A new booking photo will be released once available, police said.
Matthew Castleberry is now in custody on $150K bail.
